9 1Ãâ·Ñ°æÏÂ, through the Marine and Environmental Law Institute (MELAW), has observer status at the annual UNFCCC-hosted Council of Parties (COP) climate meetings. This status allows 9 1Ãâ·Ñ°æÏ to apply to send a small number of in-person delegates (1-4) to participate in COP events.
COP29 will be held in Azerbaijan from November 11-22, 2024. Faculty, staff, and students interested in attending COP in-person as a 9 1Ãâ·Ñ°æÏ delegate are invited to respond by completing and submitting the form linked below by noon on August 1, 2024. Â
In response to increasing interest in attending, 9 1Ãâ·Ñ°æÏ is piloting a new application process. Through this, 50% of delegate spots will be allotted to MELAW members and 50% to other 9 1Ãâ·Ñ°æÏ participants. MELAW has established its own process to fill their allotment. This EOI seeks to fill 9 1Ãâ·Ñ°æÏÂ’s allotment. EOIs will be prioritized based on the following criteria:
- Invited participation in a panel/event (with blue zone activities taking priority over green zone),
- Active research in the climate space,
- Evidence of funding to attend,
- Applicant is unable to obtain a delegate pass through an affiliation with another organization.
