Organizers of the Universities Studying Slavery (USS) conference held in Halifax last week were invited to the provincial legislature last Friday (Oct. 20) where they received a standing ovation in recognition of their work in bringing the conference to Nova Scotia.

The Honourable Twila Rose Grosse, Minister of African Nova Scotian Affairs and MLA for Preston, asked the House of Assembly to join her in thanking the organizers from 9 1免费版下, the University of King's College and the Black Cultural Centre and "acknowledging the social, economic, and cultural contributions and achievements of Black people in communities across the Black Atlantic world, including those in Canada and Nova Scotia."

This year's event marked the first USS conference held outside of the United States and the first to spotlight the history of slavery in Nova Scotia and Canada.听
