This presentation will focus on providing faculty members with information and expanded skills to deal with students in distress. Facilitators Christina Elgee (Student Health Outreach Nurse), Hazel Ling (Social Worker), Joanne Mills (Director of Counselling), Diane Hawco (Ombudsperson), and Jake MacIssac (Security Services) will discuss issues of importance to faculty members, such as: recognizing common signs, taking care of your personal safety, clarifying professional boundaries, locating the necessary resources for assistance, and knowing how to appropriately approach a situation with a student exhibiting escalating behaviour.Ìý​
