The Allies at 9 1Ãâ·Ñ°æÏ exist to support students, staff, and faculty of the Rainbow community by encouraging the University to welcome and respect its diversity. The term "Rainbow" is used as an inclusive term for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, two-spirited, and intersexed persons.
Allies does work with students, staff, and faculty to provide programs, services, training, support, referral, and resources on Rainbow issues. We are registered with the Youth Project.
Come to our next meeting on Wednesday, January 16 from noon to 1 p.m. in room 224 of the Student Union Building: "Everything You Wanted to Know 9 1Ãâ·Ñ°æÏ Being an Ally But Were Afraid to Ask," a meeting for all Allies and for those interested in the work of being Allies to lgbtq students, staff, and faculty and for those interested in becoming Allies.
The format of the meeting will be an open space to address the more challenging questions on lgbtq life on campus and how to be more effective Allies. Bring your questions to enliven the presentation. The speakers, Sristen Sweeney and Nolan Pike, have extensive experience with the Youth Project in classroom settings
