Thank you, everyone, for supporting the 9 1免费版下 Agricultural Campus United Way Campaign 2019.听 Following is an update.

Special Events raised $2,510.80.听 Payroll Deduction Program - $4517. Grand Total: $7027.80.

Our goal was to surpass last year鈥檚 amount of $11,351.00.听听 Shortfall is $4323.

If you would like to help us reach our goal for 2019, you can still take part in the Payroll Deduction Program.

This is, by far, the easiest way to contribute to the United Way of Colchester County, an organization that works very hard to help other organizations within the county.听 Your name will also be entered into a draw for a dedicated parking spot on the Truro campus for one year.

Tackling #UNIGNORABLE Issues

Local social issues can be tough to spot. They鈥檙e complicated, they don鈥檛 look the same for everyone and in our busy lives, these social issues can be easy to ignore.听And you can鈥檛 solve a problem if you don鈥檛 know it exists. At United Way, we鈥檙e working to make local social issues #UNIGNORABLE, issues like poverty, mental health, and domestic violence.听 We help create opportunities that improve the circumstances of people in need, right here in our community, where we live and work!

We focus on three areas when working to improve lives in Colchester County:
听听 听听听From poverty to possibility

• Moving people out of poverty听
• Meeting basic human needs(ex: food, shelter, ,jobs)

听 听 听Healthy people, strong communities

• Improving access to social &听health-related support services听
• Supporting resident and community engagement听听听
• Supporting community integration and settlement

听 听 听All that kids can be

• Improving access to early childhood learning and development programs听
• Helping kids do well at school and complete high school听
• Making the healthy transition into adulthood and post-secondary education听
  
  We invest donor donations back into Colchester County to fund critical programs and projects that create opportunities for our community members to improve their lives.

We offer our own community support programs:

Bikes for Kids听collects gently-used bikes from the community. Our staff and volunteers fix the bikes and give to children who would not be able to afford one without听this program.

The Back to School campaign helps families that cannot afford the costs associated with students heading back to school by providing free school supply kits. 听

• The Youth Committee's听Elves for Elders program听collects donated gifts, during the holiday season, to give to听isolated seniors听living on their own or听in care facilities.听听

We work with organizations in our communities to uncover local issues and develop partnerships for community projects.
听
We work in partnership with community organizations to strengthen the network of services and build up the capacity within the non-profit community by providing workshops and learning opportunities.
听
We believe that by building up our relationships within the community, we are all able to combine our resources (time, donations, influence and knowledge) and accomplish more together.

We, at the 9 1免费版下 Agricultural Campus, play an important role in enabling the United Way of Colchester County do the special work they do in our own communities around Colchester County.听 We, in essence, could be helping our own neighbour.

The extended deadline to sign up for the Payroll Deduction Program is December 17, 2019.听 You can give a much as you want to - $1.00 per pay or more.听 Every amount they receive will help someone in the County of Colchester.听 We have a lot of spirit on this campus and I believe we can reach the goal.
