Technical Educational and Vocational Training (TVET) institutions are key players in the youth employment market system and central to the strategies of governments worldwide to increasing economic opportunities for youth.
However, TVETs often lack the resources, capacity, systems and structure needed to produce graduates with the skills and industry linkages needed for successful employment and self employment.
This Summit Deep Dive Session will offer participants an interactive opportunity to grapple with the challenges faced by projects operating in the TVET sector today.
The session will focus on curriculum development, building linkages with the private sector and encouraging entrepreneurship, using a problem-solving approach to address key project challenges. Case studies will be presented from countries affected by youth unemployment: Ethiopia and Kenya, but audience members are encouraged to share their own experiences from their work on the ground.
Deans from partner colleges will also be available to provide direct feedback on proposed solutions and speak to challenges and opportunities in the TVET sector.
Hannah Pugh will be presenting at the Summit on Wedcnesday, October 2 in Washington DC.
