Perhaps we can find evidence around us聽that more science informed decision making is underway. This would be good news in efforts to reduce climate change and reduce green house gas emissions.
From Elizabeth May's take on the long but worthy results of Cop21, "Canadians can be rightly proud of what our government did in Paris...and the聽newly minted (and now totally exhausted) Minister of Environment and Climate Change, Catherine McKenna, enough for her work."
But聽Canada still needs to improve its聽climate target - as they were not so stellar as left by the previous government. As we know, the Liberal election platform and recent speech in the House,聽articulated a commitment聽to follow up on聽COP21, by聽consulting聽all provincial and territorial governments and engaging with municipal governments and First Nations as well.
Members of the Faculty, are preparing to partner with the Living Earth Council (LEC), and聽the Town of Truro for planning for聽Earth Day events聽on April 21/22 2016. The聽municipality聽wants to share an update on their sustainability plans and progress.聽This continues to be a聽role for聽citizens to be engaged in,聽inspired by, and really聽fired up about聽(of course by renewable sources聽only :-0)聽
聽As Donella Meadows (2002) wisely argues, "Living successfully in a world of systems requires more of us than our ability to calculate. It requires our full humanity鈥搊ur rationality, our ability to sort out truth from falsehood, our intuition, our compassion, our vision, and our morality."
